Portland, Maine: Portland is located on a peninsula originally called Machigonne (Great Neck) by Algonquian speakers who originally inhabited it. The British created a settlement here in 1632, and by the 18th century Portland was one of North America's busiest ports. It was incorporated into the state of Maine in 1820 and served as the capital. It was the birthplace of American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Today, Portland offers a cosmopolitan setting, with an active waterfront of fishing wharfs and warehouses, combined with contemporary shops, art museums, and a lively restaurant scene. Iconic Head Light was built in response to a shipwreck at Bangs Island in 1787.

Day at Sea: For our day of Atlantic sailing, we follow the path of the fishing trawlers who leave the northern extremities of the North American coast, heading out to sea. Unlike them, however, we hug the coast of Nova Scotia, passing storied harbors full of maritime history, picturesque coastal towns, and spectacular natural beauty. Elegant dining in two distinctive venues with free-flowing house wine, beer, and spirits will enhance your day at sea.

Halifax, Nova Scotia: Halifax was settled by the British in 1746 to gain access to the rich cod resources in the surrounding waters and control over Halifax's harbor, which is the second largest ice-free harbor in the world. Halifax's strategic location near the Canadian, North American, and North Atlantic trade routes made it a center of international shipping and trade in the 18th century and again during WWII, when supplies were being sent to Europe.

Day at Sea: Day at sea to enjoy elegant dining in two distinctive venues with free-flowing house wine, beer, and spirits while you are at sea.

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island: Located on Prince Edward Island, Canada's smallest and most charming province, Charlottetown showcases a wealth of natural beauty and history.

Day at Sea: Experience the extraordinary scale of the St. Lawrence seaway as we round the Gaspe' peninsula and enter the Gulf of St. Lawrence. For centuries, the St. Lawrence River has served as an important route for trade and travel, connecting the Atlantic maritime traffic with the the world's largest source of freshwater from the Great Lakes. The river spans 744 miles, beginning at the outflow of Lake Ontario near Kingston and flowing northeast into the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Enjoy a day of beautiful vistas and serene sailing as we make our way through the Gulf towards the mouth of the river.

Tadoussac, Quebec: Tadoussac is a village at the confluence of the Saguenay and St. Lawrence rivers. Tadoussacc was first visited by Europeans in 1535 and was established in 1600, when the first trading post in Canada was formed there, in addition to a permanent settlement being placed in the same area that the Grand Hotel is located today. Today Tadoussac is a reknown Whale Watching destination.

Quebec City, Quebec: Quebec City is the only walled community in North America and is deeply engaged in preserving its history and its unique place in Canada. In addition to the included excursions, guests are encouraged to stroll on their own from the port to visit the Petit Champlain and take the funicular railway to the Chateau Frontenac and its magnificent Dufferin Terrace.

Montreal, Quebec: In 2017, Montreal celebrated its 375th birthday, making it one of the oldest cities in North America. Situated on the St. Lawrence River, it remains important crossroads for shipping by land and sea, with a rich history of Iroquois, colonial, and cosmopolitan settlements. In addition to the included excursions, enjoy a walking tour of the Old City with a visit to the Notre Dame Basilica.

Day at Sea: Delight in this day of cruising aboard the M/V Victory I as we navigate the St. Lawrence River. The spectacular coastline offers unrivaled natural beauties: dramatic cliffs, historic cityscapes, vibrant with birds, and marine life. Take in the changing views as you stroll the wooden decks, tuck into an inviting deck chair, or refresh with a meal or high tea in one of our sophisticated onboard restaurants.

Toronto, Toronto: Welcome to Toronto, the most multicultural diverse city on the planet: over 140 languages are spoken. It’s estimated that over half of Toronto’s residents were born outside Canada, and despite its complex makeup, Torontonians generally get along. Toronto is a vibrant, big-time city abuzz with activity. Some of the world’s finest restaurants are found here, alongside happening bars and clubs and eclectic festivals.
